Woodgate Beach is 36km east of Childers by road, midway between Bundaberg and Maryborough, and located on the northern shores of Hervey Bay, to the north of the Burrum River. It can be accessed from the Bruce Highway via Childers by taking the Goodwood-Bundaberg Road and turning onto the Woodgate Road at the Goodwood School. The township is surrounded by the Burrum Coast National Park - Woodgate Section to the west and south extending to the Burrum and Gregory Rivers. To the west and north, the Burrum Coast National Park - Kinkuna Section, extends to the main north-south rail line at Goodwood and to Coonar Creek just south of the Elliott River at Bundaberg. Woodgate enjoys town water, power and sewerage. A school bus collects children for the Primary School at Goodwood and to the Childers High School.
